Learn how to change your shipping from address on Shopify so your customers know where their products are coming from and shipping costs are correct.
The Shipping From address on your Shopify store tells buyers where their product will be sent from. If you’re moving to a new home or commercial premise, you may need to change the Shipping From address on your Shopify account. This is important because it gives customers vital information about how long their shipment is likely to take and allows Shopify to calculate shipping costs.
In this guide, we give you a synopsis of the steps needed to make this tweak, and by the end of this tutorial, you will be able to change the Shipping From address on your Shopify store.
Log in to Shopify and click on Settings > Locations.
Click on Change default location in the Default location box.
Click Add Address.
Fill in the address details.
Change the default location to the new address and click Save.
Let’s look at each step in more detail.
Log into your Shopify account if you haven’t already, go to Settings, and click Locations.
Your default Shopify location is displayed in the Locations section. Under Default location, you will see the tab for Change default location. Click the tab, and you will find a drop-down list from which to select the new address.
This step is necessary if your new address isn’t already listed on your account. If this is the case, you now need to add an address because it won’t be in the drop-down menu. Click the Add location tab on the top right of the screen.
In the box under Location Name, add a name for your new Shipping From address, such as the country, warehouse name, city, or any other descriptor.
In the Address section, fill in the details of the new Shipping From address in the dialogue boxes and press Save.
Return to the Default location section (step 2) and click Change default location. Choose the new address you have just added and press Save.
Shopify doesn’t offer options to hide your Shipping From address since it is essential to have an address listed. However, there are ways to keep your address more private, especially if your business address is also your home address or you sell sensitive or expensive products.
Instead of listing your physical address, you can use a virtual address or PO box address.
A virtual address: This is a separate business address you can use to maintain your privacy. You can choose one in your current country/state to avoid problems calculating shipping costs.
PO box address: This numbered box is securely located in the post office. Use this to maintain privacy. This is a popular option for drop shipping businesses that don’t hold physical stock.
