The Challenge:
The Platform Solutions Group (PSG) at Sutherland needed to create a more cohesive and impactful learning environment. They aimed to streamline diverse learning initiatives and better align individual development with dynamic organizational goals. Increasing engagement and accurately measuring the impact of these initiatives were key priorities. PSG sought to ensure employees could grow their skills in alignment with the company’s evolving needs and stay competitive in the industry.
The Solution:
To address these challenges, PSG partnered with Coursera to revamp their learning ecosystem. They rolled out a structured, phased implementation to ensure strategic alignment and effective deployment. The initiative included:
- Tailored Learning Paths: PSG created customized content tailored to various roles and levels within the organization, aligning learning with career goals and organizational needs.
- ByteBuzz Club: This innovative initiative fostered cohort-based learning and provided a platform for mentorship and peer collaboration.
- Gamification: A points-based system and leaderboards were introduced to motivate employees and drive engagement.
- Hackathon: Designed to translate learning into practical outputs, the hackathon encouraged innovation and practical application of new skills.
These elements combined to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment, making it easier for employees to develop relevant skills and apply them in real-world scenarios.
The Results:
PSG saw impressive results with Coursera. All 413 employees activated their licenses, achieving a 99% utilization rate. They spent 8,818 hours learning, enhancing over 2,900 skills, averaging eight new skills each. Course completion rates were high, with 96% completing one course and 71% completing three or more. Additionally, 64% started specialization programs, with 25% earning certifications within the first year.
The ByteBuzz Club created eight cohorts and mentorship initiatives, enhancing collaboration and learning. The hackathon led to practical, innovative solutions, reinforcing PSG’s commitment to improvement. These initiatives boosted skills and aligned personal development with company goals.
