Jim Martin is a Professor of Computer Science and Fellow of the Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he directs the Center for Computational Language and Education Research (CLEAR). His research is focused on natural language processing and its application in health care and educational settings. He is the co-author of the widely used textbook Speech and Language Processing: An Introduction to Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics and Speech Recognition. Jim graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School in NYC. He went on to receive a B.S. in Computer Science from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
