About the Course

Project Management: Foundations and Initiation provides students the foundational knowledge of how engineering projects are managed and initiated. Project managers are responsible for project scope, stakeholder management, effective communication, and team leadership. In this course, you will develop introductory skills needed to manage traditional engineering projects, along with tools needed to engage stakeholders and build diverse teams. This course can be taken for academic credit as part of CU Boulder’s Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (ME-EM) degree offered on the Coursera platform. The ME-EM is designed to help engineers, scientists, and technical professionals move into leadership and management roles in the engineering and technical sectors. With performance-based admissions and no application process, the ME-EM is ideal for individuals with a broad range of undergraduate education and/or professional experience. it was an amazing class and I enjoyed the whole process. All thanks to my course lecturers for taking out their time to ensure we all got to the end of this very course.

Lots of information and insights were provided. The downloads are very valuable and helpful. I felt that the presenter was very well spoken and clear. My one complaint would be that I did not grasp the whole project flow until after completing all modules in the course and reading the Process Groups to Knowledge Areas matrix again. Now, I feel that the order is becoming clearer. Maybe that could be provided earlier and referenced more. Thank you.

Overall I think this course was well made. Although a good amount of the content is from third party, such as APPS/software company blogs and youtube, I still think it was carefully selected and thoughtfully put together. I'm not a huge fan of the peer grading system. I started the course early before the term started. Some submissions were given lower points without explanation.
