I really loved this course. Considering I own and run a leading kennel and cattery myself, it gave me new insights to my understanding of animals. Also since I'm working on journalism for several publications, it has added to me storehouse of knowledge for writing better and more iformed articles and news reports on animals in general.

Content is up to date and freely available at any time. Very much so enjoyed the additional recourse/ reading area for each module, gave plenty of reading and exploring of the subjects however some links within these sections are not working. easy to find the information that's listed via the web.

I was aware of almost all the sections in animal welfare, including livestock, pet and captive animals . Other than that, the lecturers were really interesting, and their methods of teaching were so attractive. This short course has undoubtedly reignited my enthusiasm for animal welfare.

This is a mind-blowing and very important course that teaches you more about animal behaviour and welfare. Qualified lectures give insight to the true meaning of welfare and behaviour and help us detach from the believe that animals feel the way we do.

I have learned so much about animal welfare issues that I'm better able to articulate my own thoughts and perspectives on it. I've also used what I've learned to create a philosophical framework for my pet sitting business.

Surprisingly good and thorough. I was worried it would be simplistic and patronising but I couldn't have been more wrong. Really enjoyable and I learnt a lot

I definitely have some Pro’s and Con’s with this course. First the con’s, I signed up to the course on the 25th of March, after the course stated that I could do this at my own pace I was eager to start, however after paying for the course to ensure I got the certificate at the end I was met with course deadlines, this meant that if quizzes weren’t submitted on time then I would not get a grade and therefore not achieve a certificate, (I may be wrong but this is what I got from what I read and understood, and what Coursera support implied via email). This is how the course outlined for me: Module 2 & 3 quizzes had to be completed on 30th of March, Module 4 quiz on April 4th, and Module 5 & 6 to be completed on April 6th. This meant that at the times I had to submit two modules by a certain date, I would rush studying and feel exhausted after doing both quizzes, which really stressed me out. This course is definitely NOT a do in your own time, not unless you don’t care about getting grades or certificates. When I had issues, I turned to the forum to ask for help from mentors and teachers, I have finished the course now and my question has still be unanswered, which is very frustrating, as the course is still active I would expect mentors and teachers to respond at least up to 24hours after something is asked in the forum. Quizzes are challenging (which is a pro for me) but you can refer to notes, which felt as though I was cheating, so I would put all my notes aside when doing the quiz. If you have to reattempt a quiz, all the questions are the same and so are all the answers, and even though quizzes can’t be attempted again until 8 hours, you could easily write down all the questions you got wrong and then when you retake you can ace all the questions that way, which makes it feel like you are being spoon fed the information rather than being quizzed on what you actually remember from paying attention. Another thing is NONE of the interactive lessons work in the additional reading, as far as I’m aware after doing digging from previous forum posts, they know it doesn’t work but just haven’t really seemed to do anything about it? There are still PDF’s to download, but it was disappointing I couldn’t answer questions and interact with additional material and could only read about it. One last Con I want to add is trying to find the coursera help email, maybe I was silly, but that email took me days to find, so if you ever need help here is the email address: support@coursera.org Pro’s, I would say that this course is very informative, I learnt lot of new things and came away with a better understanding of welfare terminology and more knowledge under my belt. If none of the above negatives deter you and you like the thrill of being under pressure with your deadlines and work, then this will be perfect for some people. I still have a lot of material I had to skip when my quiz deadlines got close, but luckily I can go back and re watch and read things in my own time now, as I do feel like my mind was so crammed with everything I had to learn in the short span of time, not even when I was at University did I get such short spanning deadline dates for multiple modules.

This course was in part interesting and in part quite uninteresting. I would have liked to see more natural way of lecturing, it mostly felt very technical and automatic. If you have seen the videos, you know what I mean. I also find that week 5 about cows, pigs and chickens might cause someone to become vegetarian or vegan, as some actions and conditions that are considered to be "normal", (for me) definitely don't seem that. Overall the course got more interesting in the last weeks.

Es muy interesante el contenido y los artículos adicionales a ellos. Lo único malo es que no todos los vídeos tiene los subtitulos al español y es algo molesto eso. Fuera de eso el curso muy bien.
