About the Course

This course familiarizes you with standards and policies of the electric utility industry, and provides you with basic vocabulary used in the business. It introduces the electric power system, from generation of the electricity all the way to the wall plug. You will learn about the segments of the system, and common components like power cables and transformers. This course is for individuals considering a career in the energy field (who have a high school diploma, at minimum, and basic knowledge of mathematics), and existing energy sector employees with less than three years of experience who have not completed similar training and would benefit from a course of foundational industry concepts. The course is a combination of online lectures, videos, readings and discussions. This is the first course in the Energy Production, Distribution & Safety specialization that explores various facets of the power sector, and features a culminating project involving creation of a roadmap to achieve a self-established, energy-related professional goal. Its a good overview of the electrical grid focusing mostly on smart grid and reasons to implement it. I was hoping for a little more technical information on the components of the existing power grid. A good course to start nonetheless.

some quiz questions were tailored towards America (like about percentages in USA), well as it is good, I think its better if quiz questions are directed more towards the content and the concept otherwise its a good course, i liked it.

A very well designed course, it gave me full insight about power systems and related stuff. However, US was the targeted country throughout the course. It would be better, if other countries power systems also took into account!

The course is excellent. It would be better to give resource materials like pdf or ppt besides lecture videos. Some questions of quizzes are out of the lectures. So it will be helpful to give additional learning materials.

Great course for learning the fundamentals of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution. If the power utility business sounds like an strange topic, this is the right place to start.

The contents are good however the exercises some times ask for questions not directly explained throughout the videos. This made me feel like I was not paying attention but that was not the case.

The course is good, all the main topics of power stations and substations are dismantled. Gives a general idea of the topic. And also affects the new technologies as smart grid! Recommend!!

The course is specifically related to the USA scenario and hence the students from other countries might find it unnecessary to have those information. Yet well executed and informative.

In week 3, Double-Busbar & Switching Sequence quiz showed me wrong answer for the 1st question even though it was correct. Other than that, the course is really helpful & educative

the lessons were amazing, however the lecture presents in a monotone voice which after a while I loose focus. I suggest that you present in a more open and friendly meaner.

you need to remove data based question in your assignments and self check quizzes as they are based on memorisation not on conceptual understanding of a given topic .
