About the Course

Technology is omnipresent, but how did we get here? And what does the future hold for a world that's increasingly connected, mobile and data-rich? This course is intended to give learners enough technical context to understand how to build solutions in the cloud starting from zero technical knowledge. Before diving into the cloud, we will cover the basics of: how do computers work (including software and operating systems), an introduction to information technology, the basics of modern IT infrastructure, and the cloud careers that will be increasingly in-demand. We will then move into the world of internet connected networks (the Internet), covering local hosts, web servers, web applications, web security, the inner workings of a website and the differences between static and dynamic content. We'll close the course by introducing Cloud Computing, its role in our world, the differences between public, private and hybrid, and why APIs are so important....

This is a good course for getting started with cloud technology. The pace is generally about right and the material covered is pretty good. The two 'issues' I have with it are: 1> sometimes the tutors seem to be trying to be too "simplistic" with the material. The tutors attempts to keep it light-hearted and "easy" comes across a bit like pre-school TV programs. (just a personal opinion) 2> the course started saying how it is to get absolute beginners into cloud environments. After about two hours the course material involves talking about CIDR. They don't actually explain CIDR to later in the course. CIDR is a fairly easy concept to understand but without previous experience, it could confuse some learners.

This course was clearly designed to make sure everyone has the basic IT knowledge necessary to understand general Cloud concepts and, in particular, the AWS Cloud offerings. In doing so, it risks annoying the more knowledgeable while not being sufficient for the less knowledgeable. These two groups are hard to satisfy at the same time. So, if you truly are a beginner in IT, try to search for more information on each of the concepts mentioned and take your time, it will pay dividends later. And if you're an IT veteran expanding into "the cloud" or coming from a competitor's Cloud, my advice is to try to be patient and reach Module 3 as fast as possible.

The AWS Bedrock course on Coursera provides a concise overview of generative AI and its applications on the AWS platform. The course highlights the key features of Bedrock, including its ability to access and customize various foundation models. While the course offers a solid introduction, it might benefit from more in-depth technical demonstrations and practical exercises to solidify understanding.

The course provides a good introduction to IT basics. However, it would be even better to include more multiple-choice questions and hands-on exercises to enhance learning.

It provides basic knowledge for IT. I'm not sure if it's really helpful for the beginner with no experience in IT. I understand this course is a start, but I'm afraid if only reading and watching the lecture, people can really understand the details of IT.(I'm an IT student so those materials, it's covered everything I learned before and it's a review for me.)

The labs don't work out, the AWS account doesn't allow you to create resources, what is the point of the lab if you need write permissions?
